Should Janet have taken the decadent route?

I wonder if janet had decide to mock/laugh the system like Britney is sorts of doing what would have happen. What if she had never apologize? What if she had claimed tha that was a very well orchestrated way to wake up America from it's ridiculous sexual hipocrisy and misogyny? What if she had made a pop- gay oriented album instead of letting JD force her career to the homophobic urban market? We'll never know

Why all the fret with Ne-Yo?

The big problem with contemporary R&B is the lack of originality. It all sounds exacerbantely equalized. Maybe is the price of success, maybe is a case of a dead end road or it is simply a phase that will soon pass. The thing is that once the hip-hop industry is reching it's nadir, everybody in the music industry has turned their eyes to the everclassic R&B. In search of a new trend that reignites America's hunger for the last sensation (the main rule of marketing). But it doesn't seem to be the case. Although superstars like Mariah Carey have finally redirect their wealth limos to a more R&B sound, the trials of the search for the new posterboy (yeap, the industry is extremely sexist) that can incarnate the values and miracles of the new trend seem to be failing once and again.

As much as finding the Tupacs and Biggies posterboys that ignited the fire of hip-hop was seamingly easy, the comtinual efforts to place a postyerboy of R&B seems to fail once and again. Maybe the nearer they've got has been Ne-Yo. But i think that the frett and desperation in saluting him as the next musci saviour has evidenced the tactics and the public doesn't seem to accept him as the definitive R&B Messiah. who will be? Will they finnalle come to terms to the existence of far more talented women that are not just products like Miss Beyonce? We'll see.

Is Britney the new Judy?

No one can deny the paralellisms of Britney's cult of self-destruction and decadence with the forays of ultimate Tragedy Icon Judy Garland into Phoenix Bird's territory: both are a clear case of their generation supernovas (too bright, too short), both are worldwide recognized poster-childs of their generations and, ultimatelly, both are children pushed to stardom by their ruthless parents with no power, whatsoever, on the decision making. But if you watch a little closer, the evidence will soon state that only one of them had the talent and radiance of a unique genious that trascended all allegations of self-destruction, laziness and : Judy voice and talent was arguably far more evident than her simbolic status or the repeated plots of the System to destroy her for not accepting her money-making status. If you look even closer you'll understand that Judy's disgrace wasn't really brought upon her by herself but by an industry that vampirized her to the very last second. Britney is a whole different case. Britney is just a spoiled brat of Corporate America capitalism and marketing industry. She has never ever rebelled against a single thing and only revels on her hedonist lack of any talent but the opportunity of representing Corporate America's ultimate manipulate toya role model for all citizens of multinationals Planet (you always do as you are told).

Besides, Britney lacks some of the most important factors in Judy's complex qualities. Most of all the empowerment of the pariahs. Somebody once said that when "the cult" went to see a Judy concert they really weren't going to see the star. What those hordes of gay followers really were going to comply was a ritual of power. Their own power to transform a fading star, a destroyed toy of the system into a poweful, relevant, trascending, supranatural superstar; a gigantic icon of her times that nobody could ignore, touch or rival. Specially the system that tried to teach her a lesson for not obliging to their demands.
Judy represented a rebellion in so many ways that Britney's hedonistic case lacks: Judy was a critical active liberall that even dared to speak against Senator McCarthy when nobody dared. Judy Garland took to the microphone for a coast-to-coast radio program called "Hollywood Fights Back!" and instead of singing, the 25-year-old starlet railed against the gathering tornado that would strike "Wizard of Oz" lyricist Yip Harburg, and so many other Tinseltown talents as wicked witch-hunters descended upon the movie industry.
Remember Britney rallying against anything other than the paparazzi?
No, I don't think so. So, next time you feel tempted to compare, look harder before putting a bland no talent creation besides last century most intriguing, complex and amazing star.

echoes from the belly of the beast

So here I am. A blogger at last. In my search for fame, dirty sexy money and lies, lies, lies. Oh, and to get laid as easily and quickly as possible. I´m a Camp Queen at heart trying to pass for an intellectual. A postmodern, post-gay, post-trash intellectual shinning at the very heart of the intelligentsia. Yeah, here I am at the belly of the beast. From now on it's gonna be trash all the way to the glitterring grave.

I've been reading Dennis Cooper's "The Sluts". Magnificent. Review to cum soon.

I,ve been thinking about a possible performance in The Box NYC. Ideas are boiling deep inside. Outrage is the way.
